Newsletter August 2020

Chairman’s Corner – Kim Scheibel

Dear Members and Friends of DCCC – Shanghai/East China,

The summer of 2020 will probably be remembered by many as a different summer at least for most of us, being “stuck” inside China offered a good chance to look around at the many very interesting sites there are to be found, but it also separated many from visiting family and friends back “home”, so hopefully those who were not able to leave China this summer will get a chance around X-mas time, provided that Covid-19 travel restrictions have eased off somehow.

DCCC have managed to help several members and their respective families back to China – a very big thank you to Mathias Boyer (DCCC Beijing) for putting in a huge effort to this success. There are however still members, families and friends stranded outside China, so DCCC will continue its work assisting as many as possible to return to a normal business life in China.

Autumn is normally a busy season for a number of DCCC get-togethers and our 20-anniversary year 2020 is no exception, we look forward to some relaxing times, so please support the upcoming events both as sponsors, but more importantly as participants.

Remember we will as usual hand out prices at our Annual Gala Ball on 31. Oct. to the Business Person -, Young Professional – and Entrepreneur – of the Year. So please make sure to nominate as many candidates as possible not to make it too easy for the judging committee – contact DCCC Shanghai GM – Laura laura@dccc-shanghai.com if you need any help with forms or have any questions in this relation.

There are clear signs that the expat community is shrinking not only amongst Danes in Shanghai/China, but amongst all nationalities, it there very important that we keep up the DCCC network and create value for our members. So should you as a member know of someone who is not currently a member then please help to spread with word of them becoming a member of DCCC.

The 3 DCCC chambers Shanghai, Beijing and South China, will therefore start the work to bring the 3 chambers closer together, so that we support all Danish companies and companies who wishes to be our members across China, irrespective of location. Many of our larger member also have operations in all 3 locations, so it only makes sense to integrate i.e. membership and other administrative operations across China. There will of course be limitations to how many would start travelling all over China for smaller events, but we need to make sure that our members feel welcome in any place irrespective of membership location.

Our Young Professional (YP) are “desperately” looking for new members, so make sure to spread the word – contact Lars lars.algayer@cflflooring.com for more info.
