Dear DCCC Members,

In August it was awesome to see so many of our members and friends joined the welcome back Danish Friday.
From 24 August, in collaboration with DCBF and DCC Hongkong, we are continuing our series of free webinars for our members. The upcoming webinars will focus on Asia and China insights on business.
In September, we have planned some very exciting events:

  • We are launching a new inspirational series for our younger members called YP Clubhouse. The series of events are exclusively for our YP members and (currently) invitation-only. The events will be roundtable discussions with topics such as entrepreneurship, innovation, business trends in China and Denmark. It’s a must-go event series for young professionals to meet others and share ideas. The first YP Clubhouse will be hosted by Lotte Norgreen, who is an experienced senior executive with 20 years operational and management experience from Europe, Asia and Africa.
  • A new series introducing the wonderful city we live in called MEGA City series will also be launched in SeptemberCollaborating with the Danish Consulate in Shanghai, we are inviting speakers from different areas to share insights on Shanghai.
  • On 24 September DCCC will host the annual Danish Summer Night in Beijing, at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark. Already completely sold out, we are expecting the Beijingers to get the party started. On 13 November the party will continue at the Bvlgari hotel in Shanghai. We sincerely hope as many people as possible from all our China will come join in the celebration of the business people of the year.

 10 September Chambers for Charity

In collaboration with the American, Australian, Benelux, British, Danish, German and Irish Chambers of Commerce, and sponsored by Shangri-La Pudong, Lifeline is hosting an Inter-Chamber mixer to raise awareness of mental health and funds for Lifeline.

Join us on September 10th for an evening of social mixing, panoramic views of the Historic Bund, drinks, canapés and important conversation around mental health.

Join us on the 24th of September at the Langham Xintiandi for a Finance and Legal Work Group breakfast session where we look at the upcoming IIT changes and social insurance for expats in Shanghai. Ann Sophie de Meester, Corporate Services Director, from R&P lawyers will share details on what are the facts, what are the rumours and some potential scenarios.

Danes Worldwide

The new school year begins at Danes Worldwide

The Danes Worldwide Danish courses start with the new school year on 6 September at three levels: Danish for beginners, Basic Danish, and School level Danish. Register now and take part from the very beginning.

Danish for Beginners 1 or 2 is designed for those who are learning from scratch. Those who have some knowledge of Danish may find Basic Danish suitable (this course also has two levels). School level Danish is designed for children who wish to maintain their skills in Danish for the purposes of returning to the Danish school system in the future.

Trade Council China, Shanghai

This month The Trade Council and JD Health (JD.com) has launched a new Danish online Health Pavilion. The first brand to launch is the Danish SME health brand ‘Camette’. With the new Pavilion. The Trade Council is opening up a new window for Danish OTC health brands in the BTC segment on JD. Contact Cortana Yang on xueyan@um.dk for further info.

GN Hearing invited Consul General Mr. Jakob Linulf to participate in the launch of their newest product “Quattro”, the event was live-streamed online.

Consul General Mr. Jakob Linulf witnessed the signing ceremony between the Danish company LEEMIAN, Jiaxing Jingkai District and Rongchung and a local development company, to open a Danish Lifestyle Centre in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province.

Supporting University Startup World Cup (USWC)
USWC is an international competition for startups hosted by Venture Cup China and supported by ICDK Shanghai. Throughout the year USWC will host a variety of pitching sessions with university startups around the world.

Top leader webinar by ‘Kommunernes Landsforening’ 
ICDK Shanghai were invited to reflect on Danish digitalization in the public in a globalized setting.

ICDK Shanghai welcomes the 2021 Sino-Danish Center cohort 

The introduction program for all new SDC students were held last week. During the week, 135 new students will touch on areas supporting them in building intercultural competencies and practicing the art of group work.

2021 VR Edtech Innovation Camp 

On August 30 – September 1 ICDK Shanghai and South Korea hosted the 2021 VR Edtech Innovation Camp. The aim of the event is to help Danish startups in the Edtech sector to better understand the business environment in China and South Korea, while also explore possible cooperation opportunities in entering the Chinese and South Korean Edtech markets.

Invest in Denmark

Key events IDK runs in China recently are:

  • Sino-DK Furniture Forum in Guangzhou CIFF, Chinese Design studio in DK
  • Robotics DK session in Shenzhen
  • Green summit between Shanghai and Denmark collaboration between TC-CLAISSIC, Innovation and Invest in Denmark.
  • The CIIF China International Industry Fair will take place on 5 days from Tuesday, 14. September to Saturday, 18. September 2021 in Shanghai.

Upcoming events 

Blockchain Business Bridge (BBB) Bootcamp

This year’s BBB Bootcamp will take place between 13 – 15 September. It will focus on product security within food and medical products. The aim of the project is to bridge the gap between Danish and Chinese blockchain ecosystems, and help Danish companies seek market opportunities in China.
