Chairman’s Corner – Poul G. Kristensen
Dear Members and Friends of DCCC,
After many months of preparations we finally hold the Gala Ball for the Business Person of the Year Saturday the 3rd of November at the Jing An Shangri-La.
This year was even more special than normally in many ways:
For the first time ever we were honored with the participation of a Danish Minister. Actually we had the honor and pleasure of counting with the presence of the Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark, Ulla Tørnæs, Ms. Lisbet Zilmer-Johns – Under Secretary for Global Politics and Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish Ambassador in China, A. Carsten Damsgaard and the Danish Consul in Shanghai, Mr. Jakob Linulf. We would like to thank all of them for been a very important part of this great event for the Danish Business community in China!
It was also the first time that the DCCC PAN China cooperation was fully represented by the Acting Chairman of DCCC – Beijing Mr. Mathias Boyer, the Vice Chairman of DCC-SC, Mr. Michael Schjerbeck and me on behalf of DCCC Shanghai.
As Chairman of the PAN China cooperation I am also very happy and proud of being part of the journey to unite the 3 chapters of DCCC. We look forward to keep doing it stronger and closer in the future.
I want to use this opportunity to congratulate again the nominated and finalist as well the winners of the 3 categories: Trine Roland Westergaard as Young Professional of the Year, Lotte Norgreen as Entrepreneur Person of the Year and Humphrey Lau as Business Person of the Year.
Finally we had at all 188 participants for the Gala Ball, that according to Chinese believes should be a very good number!
It is also very important that we extend our big thanks to all our sponsors that make this great event possible.
In November we also had a sold out visit to the Prada Rong Zhi house on Sunday the 11th. It was quite interesting to see how the building has been restored and how the Rong Zhi family lived there.
Friday the 16th our Young Professionals arranged the Danish Friday at Cotton’s Xinhua
The 28th of November we finished the TM training with a feedback meeting and handled over the diplomas to all the participants. The TM program is a joint training together with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the Finish Business Council Shanghai. We want to thanks the participants and their companies for joining our program!

Danes Worldwide Corner
Christmas is soon upon us, and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you once more for the excellent meeting we had at the Consulate General in April during my visit to Shanghai. It was wonderful to see so many people showing up to hear about the work of Danes Worldwide. Naturally, we carry on with our advocacy work on behalf of members in the key areas of family unification, unemployment insurance, etc. To all of you in Shanghai and the local area, my very best wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Anne Marie Dalgaard, Secretary General, Danes Worldwide.

Update from the Royal Danish Consulate
CIIE and delegation visit
CIIE took place in the beginning of the November. Denmark had a special gust due to the Expo: the Minister for Development Cooperation Mrs. Ulla Tørnæs. The Minister opened the Danish National Pavilion and Danish Food Exhibition and paid a visit to other Danish exhibitors: LEGO, Arla, and Novo Nordisk. The Danish pavilions main theme was sustainable solutions and ‘thinking tomorrow’. Therefore, the Danish exhibitors focus was to expand the knowledge of this sustainable thinking and decreasing of waste through innovative and creative thinking.
Approximately 300 foreigner head of state and ministers as well as 3000 foreigner companies attended CIIE, and 800.000 people visited the Expo.
Nordic Music by Design
This project, Nordic Music by Design, is a cross-cultural collaboration between the four Nordic Consulate Generals in Shanghai: Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The exciting line-up is composed of Swedish soul singer Elias, Danish producer duo Farveblind, Norwegian musician Bror Forsgren, Finnish singer-songwriter and kantele performer Ida Elina. The artists are accompanied with their Chinese counterparts Xixi, ChaCha, Dirty Fingers, and Jasmine Li.
With this project, we create a platform, where the paired Nordic and Chinese musicians can perform a collaborative concert to live audiences. The creation of a song is just one aspect of the overall goals, which are to introduce a wider audience to the Scandinavian sound and create better cultural understanding between Northern Europe and China on how each creates and produces music.
The concert will take place Saturday 1st of December at YuYinTang Park, and if this seems like a performance you do not want to miss, you can buy your tickets at www.247tickets.com and if you use the discount code thenordics you will get 20RMB off your ticket. See you!
Movie Screening
Thursday the 13th of December at 19:00, the Consulate General will screen the Danish movie: The Shamer’s Daughter.
The Shamer’s Daughter is a fiction movie, and is described as a “semi realistic medieval fantasy world with Dragons and Witchcraft”. The leading role in the movie is the Daughter Dina that unwillingly inherited her mother’s supernatural ability, where she can look straight into the soul of other people. Dina and her family are thrown into the adventure of a lifetime in order to put the rightful heir to the Kingdom of Dunark on the Throne.
If you want to watch or re-watch this Danish award-winning movie, then come and join us! RSVP Tuesday the 11th of December by email to amasim@um.dk.
