Chairman’s Corner – Poul G. Kristensen

Dear Members and Friends of DCCC,

We are almost finishing the year of the Dog and already preparing for the Year of the Pig.

In February, we will start 3 TMT training programs with 3 modules each in cooperation with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the Finish Business Council Shanghai and the Norwegian Chamber.

Furthermore we also hold different events as: “How Digital Transformation is Re-Shaping China’s Economy & Society”, “Attracting & Retaining Chinese Millennial Workers in the Modern Business Era”, “Joint Workshop on PRC Individual Income Tax Reform”, “Compliance in Procurement” etc.

DCCC Shanghai has finally reached its target of being registered as a legal entity and this entity is by now already operational.

As previously informed this also means that we have established new Bank- and WeChat accounts.

As a part of this process and as a consequence of high cost related to our new office team, the Board has decided to reduce the staff from two to one being supported going forward by Danish interns. DCCC Shanghai’s office will be now managed by Ms. Laura Li. Laura is already doing a great job with implementation of the new set-up and we ask you kindly to help us in providing support to Laura through this transition.

At the same time we wish to thanks Ms. Maria Olivia Castro-Grimnitz for her dedication to DCCC and co-operation with the Board during her time with us.

The DCCC board and office team wish you all a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS YEAR OF THE PIG 2019!

Remember to follow our activities in our homepage as well through WeChat. You can also follow DCCC Beijing & DCC-SC, and if you decide to participate at theirs events, you will just pay the normal member fee.

Danes Worldwide Corner

“Speeding up Processing of Applications for Retention of Citizenship”

On January 8, Secretary General Anne Marie Dalgaard met with Liberal Party politicians Bertel Haarder and Mads Fuglede at Parliament. The topic for the meeting was the processing time associated with applications for retention of citizenship made by young Danes who were born outside Denmark. In order to retain their Danish citizenship, these young Danes must submit an application between their 21st and 22nd birthdays.

In latter years, the processing time for these applications has risen significantly. At the meeting, the Danes Worldwide proposal was to adopt a fast track approach to reduce the wait time for approval of the retention of citizenship. Many members have experienced that this wait time can be a s long as 10-12 months. It is our hope that the application processing time will indeed be reduced within the near future.
