Chairman’s Corner – Emil Hauch Jensen

Dear Friends of the Chamber!
Last month I offered you tips on how to get the most value from your membership of DCCC by being an active participant. I strongly believe, and our attendance shows, that DCCC events are extremely good value for money! However, money is still money and we could all use a little more – so this month I will offer a few tips on how you can quickly and easily turn your DCCC membership into a Cash Flow Positive Investment!
Did you know that on our website we feature a section called Member Offers? (http://dccc-shanghai.com/member-offers/). By being a member of DCCC, you are entitled to 10% discount on already competitive prices for Health Insurance from Pacific Prime – for a small family this could easily add up to anywhere from 5,000 RMB to 10,000 RMB in yearly savings! More than enough to pay for your DCCC membership in an instance!
Also under Member Offers you will find a 20% Discount for Chinese Lessons from Easy Mandarin. If you like me are spending hundreds of hours each year struggling with this challenging language, this offer is sure to rack up some good savings for you!
If you, also like me, need to do something about those love handles! You will be glad to know that your membership of DCCC entitles you to no less than 33% discount from the city’s premier Spinning Studio – SpinBack Fitness.
But wait! There is more!
Our awesome Executive Director Anneli Vilu recently negotiated an excellent deal with Enjoy Shanghai whereby all members of DCCC will receive a new DCCC Membership Card co-branded with Enjoy Shanghai. Your new DCCC Member Card will entitle you to the full range of discounts available in the Enjoy network – that is to say you will get from 5% up to 30% discount at more than 200 of the best venues in Shanghai. If you live in Shanghai, and you regularly eat, drink or shop, then a membership of DCCC will be sure to save you lots of money!!
For sure our events and the network we provide our members will remain the primary value offered by DCCC, and the special deals and discounts is just icing on the cake. Even so we are extremely glad to be able to offer you these great deals and we hope you will be happy with our new partnership with Enjoy Shanghai.
Your new membership card will be ready soon after Chinese New Year, please Enjoy!
What do you think about the value of DCCC membership? Can you think of any reason not to be a member? Send me your comments on Emil@Businessdeveloper.dk
Would your company like to give our members a special offer? Send us a mail to let us know!
Do you know someone who could benefit from DCCC membership? Why not forward this mail and let them know!
Emil Hauch Jensen
Chairman of the Board, DCCC Shanghai Chapter

Meet Our Colleagues
In this column we introduce other Danish Chambers of Commerce around the world
The Danish Business Association of Singapore (DABS), initiated by the Royal Danish Embassy and established in the autumn of 1983 by a group of dynamic Danish businessmen, was officially registered on 27 January 1984. One of the founding fathers and the first DABS president was Mr. Paul Wallevik who is still living in Singapore.DABS serves as the co-operative body of Danish business interests in Singapore, acts as a source of ideas and information for its members and organizes events that are of interest to members across a variety of businesses and sectors. Working closely with other business associations, we create networking events focusing in particular on our Scandinavian ties.
Today DABS has about 150 members, split between Corporate Members and Individual Members. As a member of DABS you will be supporting DABS’ main objectives to contribute to members’ interests and development of their organizations and to actively contribute to the business ties between Singapore and Denmark. A membership will ensure access to about 10 business events per year arranged by DABS plus other social events. Some of the most popular social events are the annual DABS Charity Ball, the Nordic Golf tournament and the Christmas Luncheon.
To learn more about DABS and to subscribe to our mailing list kindly visit our website: http://www.dabs-singapore.com/

Update From The Royal Danish Consulate
More Danish Dairy to China: Consulate General hosts Signing CeremonyOn Friday the 22nd of January, the Consulate General in Shanghai hosted a signing ceremony that ensured the company Shanghai Lianxin the distribution rights to the new infant formula product, Småbørn蜜儿乐儿. The new product is an addition to the Danish company Moohko’s existing line of dairy- and formula products.
The new brand builds on a strong and proud Danish tradition for food safety. And that is a fact to be reckoned with seeing as scandals with infant formula – especially that of 2008 – has caused the Chinese couples that are unable to breastfeed their children naturally to exert significant caution when purchasing domestic formula products.
Challenges domestically has seen the thirst for international dairy products rise in China. It is this thirst, that Småbørn蜜儿乐儿 hope to quench when the product is launched in February.
Happy New Year – Again!
During Chinese New Year the Royal Danish Consulate General will be closed for three days. The 8th, 9th and 10th of February the representation in Shanghai will be closed. The Consulate General will be open again the 11th of February.
Should you have any urgent inquiries please call the Embassy in Beijing at: +86 (10) 8532 9900 from where it will be possible to be re-directed to the 24/7 Emergency call center at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We wish you all a happy New Year!
