Danes Worldwide Corner

Meeting with the Minister of Labor

At a meeting on January 9, Secretary General Anne Marie Dalgaard and Board Chair Susanne Hækkerup had an opportunity to inform Minister of Labor Peter Hummelgaard of the knowledge and experience accumulated by Danes Worldwide with respect to Danes living abroad. At the meeting, they in addition described the many activities undertaken by Danes Worldwide. In particular, they emphasized the valuable resource represented by the many Danes who each year return to Denmark from abroad and addressed the ways in which Denmark may benefit from that resource in a more systematic way.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Update from the Royal Danish Consulate

Greetings from the Consul General
Dear DCCC community and Danes in Shanghai area,

Happy New Year. Welcome to 2020 and to the Year of the Rat.

At the Consulate General, we are in top shape to start the new season. That goes for all of our business areas of Trade, Innovation, Invest in Denmark, Culture and Visa.

2020 is the 70-year anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Denmark was one of the very first countries to recognise the People’s Republic of China in 1950. This has always given us a strong friendship platform. We will mark this throughout 2020 and around China. DCCC and the Consulate General will be close partners also on this front.

Green will be the colour of 2020. Denmark and China are committed to spearhead a cleaner environment. It goes for energy efficiency, renewable energy and pollution reduction. It is a top priority for us to speed up Danish companies’ contribution to the rapid green and liveability transformation of Shanghai and other cities. Green buildings, recreation areas, walking and bicycle paths, electronic transportation, organic lifestyle – Denmark partners with China on all of it!

The Consulate General is your piece of Denmark here in the Shanghai area. I hope you find us accessible and open. We are always keen to meet your ideas to improve further.

On behalf of all us at the Consulate General, I sincerely thank you for your trust and partnership.
I wish you all a successful 2020.

Jakob Linulf, Consul General of Denmark
