Newsletter January/February 2017

Chairman’s Corner – Emil Hauch Jensen

Dear Friends of the Chamber!

I would like to introduce you to our new Executive Director Maria Olivia Castro!

Maria is a long time friend of the chamber and has often supported us to arrange events. She has a strong background in sales and marketing with more than 20 years experience, 10 of which she was running her own agency that did events for a long list a famous international brands.

We are very excited that Maria agreed to become the next Executive Director of DCCC – she brings with her an amazing drive and lots of experience. I personally have very high expectations for DCCC’s future, and I could not imagine a better qualified ED to lead us into that future.

Maria started her job this week, and I know she is very excited to get to know you all! Come say hello to her tonight at our Danish Friday starting 19:30 at EQ on Hankou Rd. – This will also be the official farewell party for Anneli, so it will be a mix of celebration and tears of sadness, and our friends from EQ has promised to prepare some great Danish craft beer to suit both occasions.

By the way, do already now mark your calendar for March 23rd where we will hold our Annual General Meeting – both tonight and our AGM will be a great chance to meet your board members and let us know what you hope to see more of from DCCC in 2017.

This will be the last newsletter you receive from me. As is our custom in the DCCC board, the Chairman can only sit for two periods, and I will be handing over the seat to the next Chairman following the AGM in March.

I struggle to find words to describe how proud I am to have been your chairman for the past two years. DCCC and the community that we serve is so rich with amazing people – many of the smartest, friendliest and most inspiring people I know are people I have met through DCCC. Having been given the opportunity to be your steward for a little while has been a fantastically rewarding personal growth experience.

With a new Executive Director and soon a new Chairman, I can’t help to think that it is the beginning of a new era for DCCC.

While it has yet to be decided who will be the next Chairman, it comforts me to know that our board is full of amazingly talented and fiercely passionate people – and I say with all certainty that DCCCs best days are still ahead of us!

Emil Hauch Jensen
Chairman of the Board, DCCC Shanghai Chapter
