Chairman’s Corner – Poul G. Kristensen
Dear Members and Friends of DCCC,
May has been a very interesting month with many activities and events.
As you probably all know, the Danish Premier Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen recently visited China. Apart from visiting Chengdu to see the 2 giant pandas to be sent to the Copenhagen Zoo to live there for some time, he also went to sign cooperation documents on food & drug supervision, quarantine & panda protection amongst others
The Danish Embassy in Beijing hosted a lunch for Prime Minister Rasmussen. On this occasion, DCCC Shanghai & DCCC Beijing took this opportunity to present a letter regarding the challenge many of our members face having non-Danish wives how they are unable to secure a residence permit in Denmark when their spouses want to return home.
The response from Prime Minister Rasmussen to the letter we wrote will be included in this newsletter.
We would like to assure you that we will tirelessly follow up on this issue. We will also be cooperating with associations like Danes Worldwide etc who are experts on this matter.
On another note, we have had many events this past month. The Shanghai Andersen Paradise Park event held on the 20th of May had a breaking number of attendees which was 140 people. It was a great place to spend that beautiful Saturday with the family!
I would like to welcome Shanghai Anderson to the DCCC family as they have recently signed up to be a corporate member!
On the 25th of May, we had a cooking event at Jean Georges which Chef Paul Eschbach hosted. It was an incredible opportunity to learn how to cook and make delicious food for your loved ones or for your family. This event was sold out after a few days and participants were clamoring for more of these kinds of events.
June will be a very busy month for DCCC with numerous events that would suit every members’ interest. Please keep an eye on the invitations our secretariat sends out and maybe something will catch your attention.
Looking forward to see you at our next events!
Sincerely Yours,
Poul G. Kristensen
