Chairman’s Corner – Kim Scheibel
Dear Members and Friends of DCCC – Shanghai/East China,
We are still working on how to enlarge DCCC’s network reach within each individual member company, so please help us by filling in our questionnaire, so that our Business events can become even more fruitful for all members, when they will have a chance to exchange “do’s & don’ts” in our daily working life. Remember in DCCC-Shanghai it is: “Business before pleasure”.
In June, we restarted the psychical activities after the long Covid-19 lock-up. On 13th June, we had our first Summer BBQ with more than 140 people joining a great evening with real Danish BBQ food supplied by Danish Crown. Everyone were really happy to meet each other in person after this long time apart.
A week earlier on 5th June, we also had our first “2020 Nordic After work” networking in Suzhou with more than 50 participants joining the event.
We joined another Nordic Chamber event on 8th June for Economic Update: Chinese Stimulus Amidst Shifting Targets as well as four Webinar events together with DCBF:
- June 2 DCCC & DCBF Webinar: Kids Zoo Vitamins Case
- June 9 DCCC & DCBF Webinar: How Covid-19 is shaping up China’s Corporate Social Credit Score
- June 16 DCCC & DCBF Webinar: B2C-ecommerce: Skin Care Case

Update from the Royal Danish Consulate – June 2020
The fast growing e-commerce platform, Pinduoduo (PDD), has within five years managed to reach 600 million active buyers. Consul General Jakob Linulf and the E-commerce team met with the management to talk about future collaboration, and it was here decided that the Consulate General in Shanghai would work closely together with PDD to promote Danish companies. This collaboration was born from the observation of the rising demand for quality, value-for-money products from overseas from PDD’s many users.
A month later Pinduoduo (PDD) visited and livestreamed from Pandora and Rains on Nanjing East Road in downtown Shanghai, with PDD hosts interviewing representatives from the brands explaining their products to viewers on their app.
Jesper Halle, the Danish commercial consul in Shanghai, later joined the livestreaming session, which attracted a total of over 320,000 viewers. Halle introduced over 30 Danish products to PDD users, including B & O Beoplay, Rains, Arla, Ecco, Pandora and Danisa Traditional Butter Cookies.
Digital events keeps advancing
With digital events more relevant than ever, the Danish Consulate General in Shanghai continues to upgrade technical equipment to deliver top of the line digital events. The Innovation Centre Denmark in Shanghai has made their very own live program “In The Spotlight”, where they aim to bring industry knowledge and insights by taking a closer look at outstanding company cases. Earlier this month, experts within the blockchain field joined to talk about the best blockchain practices in China, while the latest event had experts joining for a talk about Child-Friendly City Adaption in China.
Invest in Denmark hosted 2nd webinar for branding Danish Green Transition, Power to X
Co-organised by Invest in Denmark and China Energy Storage Application Association (CESA), the 2nd Green Transition Webinar introduced the Danish TSO’s vision for integrating VRE with PtX, as well as the PtX value chain in Denmark. IDK explained PtX opportunities in Denmark and best practise working with PtX processes between two countries, China and Denmark. The webinar attracted 130 attendees globally and 5 media.
The Danish Consulate General in Shanghai hosts Shanghai Pride event
Shanghai Pride is China’s longest running annual Pride festival and celebration of diversity. Last Saturday, the Consulate General in Shanghai hosted, together with the Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish Consulates General, a Nordic film day with selected LGBTQ short films reflecting on identity and diversity. With more than 300 visitors, this year’s Pride event at the Consulate also included a job fair with focus on workplace diversity and inclusion, rainbow marriage and how to support the LGBTQ community.
