Chairman’s Corner – Poul G. Kristensen

Dear Members and Friends of DCCC,
Once again winter is over and we are already enjoying the nice temperatures of the early summer time. That is one of the amazing things of Shanghai area where we mostly only have winter and summer.
Regarding DCCC, we started the summer very good with one of our big events, the Easter Lunch that again was enjoyed by many of our members. We continued with other events of both professional and social character.
Among others, as a part of our co-operation with other institutions / associations we held the 17th of April together with the Royal Danish Consulate in Shanghai and Danes Worldwide a very big event with more than 60 people. During the presentation, Anne Marie Dalsgaard, the Secretary of Danes Worldwide shared with the participants what DW does and how they can help Danes living abroad.
There were many questions and concerns from the participants about: Repatriation issues, how to keep the Danish citizenship for children born outside Denmark, Retirement rules Etc. This shows us that many of our members that are also members of DW want to follow closer what happens in Denmark regarding regulations and rule some will influence Danes living abroad. Therefore we have added in our home page a link to Danes Worldwide, where you can find their contact person in China and also open their home page.
Furthermore we are discussing other ways of making this cooperation stronger and more useful for our members. We will keep you informed about it.
Actually our Board is working with many different projects to reach out to more people and suit our events to the needs of our members. Therefore we will appreciate that if you have any ideas or suggestions regarding events that you want to attend, please don’t hesitate to contact us and share your thoughts.
Even we are just at the beginning of May, we are already preparing and organizing everything for the BPOY, that will be held the 3th of November and in this connection we are looking for sponsors for it and will be very happy to hear from you also.
Remember to reserve the below dates:

Danes Worldwide Corner
What and Who are Danes Worldwide?
Danes Worldwide serves the interests of Danes living outside Denmark. The organization advocates with politicians in Denmark on behalf of members in matters such as family unification, taxation, pensions, and other key concerns. We offer guidance provided by an in-house legal professional and by members of an expert panel. We deliver instruction in the Danish language at three different levels tailored to the needs of Danes and their children abroad. Every year, we host about 500 Danish children and teens from all over the world at Summer School, and we offer the Mini Summer School experience to younger children and their parents.
