Chairman’s Corner – Simon Lichtenberg
June 2nd, 2021
Dear DCCC Members,
DCCC had a jumpstart to a beginning hot season in Shanghai.
First of all during May we hosted/co-hosted 3 online events – but even more importantly, we carried through 6 live events in Shanghai.
The big highlight was the annual Summer BBQ event on 29th May where we had great participation and we had a top kitchen/grill team to serve Danish classics – it was a big night.
The HR group is now back in business and they had their first event at the consulate on 27th May “Optimizing HR Management Through Digital Technology” with some great speakers – I highly recommend ALL our members to get their HR manager and senior staff involved in the group. Please contact Ellen (ellen@dccc-shanghai.com) for more information.
Even as June is getting into the summer, we are not slowing down – and have planned 5 live events (pls. see the calendar) other than “beers & Hotdogs” mostly new initiatives – we welcome you all to come and be part of it. Due to Covid fewer people are travelling during the summer so we will keep the activity level normal, at least through June.
The new board has by now had two meetings and we are getting into working mode – having created teams and working groups engaging most of the board members into creating better events and value for the members. You will see more results of this over and after the summer.
We are looking forward to a summer seeing plenty of you!

July Summer School Spaces Still Available
Our Summer School coordinators are busy working on the detailed plans for the 2021 Summer Schools to be held 7-23 July (older children and teens) and 10-18 July (younger children and their parents or grandparents).
Naturally, the corona pandemic is making it necessary to run these events with extra vigilance and with observance of current public health regulations. Classes will be held with such measures as physical distancing, ventilation, and disinfection, but the point of Summer School as always is to learn and to meet new friends while learning. The regulations have reduced the number of spaces we are able to offer, but our coordinators indicate that a few remain; register here.
Find out more about Summer School here – or get in touch with Senior Summer School Coordinator Solveig Engberg at solveig@danes.dk or +45 3332 0913.
