Danes Worldwide Corner
Our legal advisor Karoline Blyt on 29 September attended a conference entitled “Love without Borders” at the Danish Parliament. Hosted by the Social Liberal Party and the Marriage without Borders association, the conference focused on the challenges encountered by Danish citizens and their foreign spouses in applying for family unification in Denmark. One key objection raised was the fact that the process is unclear and that the rules change constantly.Minister of Immigration and Integration Mattias Tesfaye explained the government’s views on family unification for Danish citizens, focusing on the basic principle that the rules must reflect common sense.
Danes Worldwide is well acquainted with the challenges in this area and continues to advocate for legislative changes to make it easier for expat Danes to return to Denmark with a non-Danish spouse.”
