Welcome back from your vacation / summer break!
We hope that you and your family had the chance of re-charge the batteries and enjoy family time.
DCCC Shanghai started the activities in August with 3 shared events with very high level of participation:
August 22nd. Tax update for Multinational Companies
August 23rd. Nordic After work Mixer (sold out, more than 120 participants)
August 28th. Women Who Lead
August 30th. Welcome BBQ (that we will mention in the next newsletter).
Remember to follow our activities in our homepage as well through WeChat. You can also follow DCCC Beijing & DCC-SC, and if you decide to participate at theirs events, you will just pay the normal member fee.

Danes Worldwide Corner
Basic Level Danish (B1) is suitable for those who are familiar with most grammatical rules but want to achieve greater fluency in speaking and writing. Basic Level Danish (B1) gives you an opportunity to perfect your grammar and to expand your vocabulary for greater accuracy in day to day situations. In addition, the course provides an introduction to key elements of the history, culture, and society of Denmark.
Advanced Basic Level Danish (B1+) is suitable for those who have mastered fundamental grammar and now wish to advance. Advanced Basic Level Danish (B1+) focuses on grammatical details to take your skills to a higher level. By reading longer articles and watching videos dealing with the culture, society, and history of Denmark, you will get an opportunity to expand your vocabulary and express yourself using more complex constructions in speaking and writing.

Update from the Royal Danish Consulate
Golden Week Closing Days
The General Consulate in Shanghai will be closed thee days during the Golden Week. Closing days are October 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2019.
Lego Opens Shop #100 in China
Lego added another brick to their Chinese venture, when they opened up their hundredth shop in China. In July, the Consulate General attended the celebrations, as the new store opened in Xi’an. Lego has long been a popular brand with the Chinese audience, and with the opening of the new store, together with plans to open a Legoland Park in Shanghai, the Danish company will enter an interesting future on the Chinese market.
Sino-Danish Sister City Partnership
Sønderborg and Haiyan were in focus when discussions about further cooperation between the two sister cities was discussed in the Chinese city in August. Areas such as sustainable development and green energy were in center, as the meeting included visits to factories and other places, to evaluate the current progress. An overall desire to further strengthen the partnership was mutually desired from both Danish and Chinese sides.
Movie Night Returns
Mark your calenders, as the General Consulate finally returns with the specifications for our next Danish Movie Night. We have long been hosting a series of movie nights, and we are glad to announce that the next movie we will be screening is “Darling”, directed by Danish director Birgitte Stærmose, which centers around the highly competitive world of ballet dancing. The date is set for September 19th, 18:30, held here at the Consulate. The movie will be in Danish, shown with Chinese subtitles. Event is free, but registration is required. Please inform niclun@um.dk if you would like to attend.
Chinese School Visit
Cultural exchange was front and center when Yunkai, The Power of Children Foundation, visited the General Consulate in early August. The young students displayed their deep fascination of Denmark, when they asked the Consulate General a series of questions, covering topics from fairytales, to the lions on the Danish coat of arms. Further collaboration with Yunkai is currently underworks.
International Passive House Conference 2019
Are you a Nordic company, professor or professional interested in exploring the Chinese passive house market? The IPHC 2019 will be held October 9-11 in Gaobeidian, Hebei. 60.000 expected participants and an audience consisting of national ministries of China, key stakeholders from Hebei Government, Chinese investors, global related companies in Passive House industry, and international and Chinese decision makers interested in Passive House technologies. By participating, you will get a displayed booth spot for company info, a 15-minute presentation in Nordic Sustainable Cities seminar, a platform for passive house knowledge exchange at international level, a guided match-making facilitated by the local Hebei government, and on-site transportation. Kære dansktalende virksomhedsleder.
VL71 er en gren af VL Danmark og dermed et globalt netværk af dansktalende virksomhedsledere som mødes 6-8 gange om året for at udveksle arbejdsmæssige erfaringer og udfordringer.
